Kavlico’s oil pressure sensor has been designed to measure engine oil pressure for either gasoline or diesel engine applications as well as for compressors and other industrial machinery. This sensor can be designed using either Kavlico’s ceramic capacitive or piezoresistive (PRT) sensing technologies depending upon the users application-specific criteria. Offered with a variety of connector and housing configuration options, the sensor utilizes Kavlico’s patented ASIC electronic integration technologies for extremely reliable and accurate signal conditioning.

Transmissions, whether for On or Off-highway vehicles use a variety of technologies, most of which utilize fluids under pressure for control and lubrication. Pressure ranges can be from 100 psi up to 700 psi or more. Kavlico offers many sensors that utilize various sensing technologies to monitor pressure in automotive transmission applications.

Kavlico was the first to offer a fully submersible sensor to monitor governor line pressure while also incorporating an integral temperature-sensing element. Compatible with most transmission fluids, these sensors are digitally trimmed to meet exacting customer specifications.

Continuously-Variable Transmission’s (CVT)’s normally operate at higher pressures and this requirement is addressed with Kavlico’s thin-film PRT sensor design that works best for system pressure ranges of 500 psi and higher as may be used by hydrostatic transmission applications.

Kavlico has developed sensor technology that is capable of accurately measuring the weight of the right-side passenger. This information, along with other sensor outputs, allows the air bag deployment to be customized to the occupant in crash conditions. The seat weight sensor systems consists of four pressure sensors that measures fluid pressure in compact load cells that are mounted between the seat and the vehicle floor. Even though these sensors are sensitive enough to provide the required information they are strong enough to withstand the most severe crash forces.

Designed for particulate trap monitoring via electronic feedback of the differential pressure sensor, the filter load of the particle filter is measured and monitored to reduce and prevent clogging.

These ceramic capacitive differential pressure sensors have been installed for years on diesel vehicles, cars and trucks throughout Europe. In addition to our proven ceramic capacitive technology Kavlico has developed new sensor designs based upon piezoresistive technology in order to tailor the sensor design to each unique particulate trap monitoring approach.

Additionally, Kavlico differential pressure sensors for Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) applications for heavy-duty diesel engines have a worldwide installed base and are field-proven to withstand high-vibration, acid-rich, and high-soot environments while continuously providing very precise voltage outputs.

This dPFE sensor is available in pressure ranges of 0–34 through 0–70 kPaD and can withstand up to 690 kPa common line pressures. The sensor measures pressure drops across an orifice and then provides the control system with a proportional measurement that is used to regulate EGR flow rate thereby reducing NOx formation.

All Kavlico differential pressure sensors for emission control can be supplied as stand-alone devices or can be configured with a complete tube/bracket assembly for easy installation and mounting.

The EU Commission is planning new measures to reduce Fluoric Chlorite Carbon Hydrogen emissions along with limits for certain types of gases currently in use today, as well as other refrigerants in air conditioning systems. With replacement of HFC-R134A through R744 (CO2) refrigerants, pressure and temperature will dramatically increase while air demand will be reduced by 30%, in the air conditioning systems.

Kavlico has developed a high-pressure pressure and temperature sensor exclusively for R744 air conditioning systems. Kavlico Series P5000 sensors utilize our patented TiON strain gauge technology on stainless steel diaphragm for this demanding application.

Leakage risk is minimized due to the hermetic seal and the combined pressure and temperature measurement into one design package.
