The present city of Moorpak was originally part of the
Rancho San Jose de Garcia de Simi land grant. The land
was given to the Pico brothers by Govenor Diego Birico
in 1795.
In 1842, the land was purchased by
Don Jose and shortly after the Civil War, Thomas Scott
of the Pennsylvania Railroad having reports of oil on
the property, acquired Rancho Simi which included Moorpark.
When no great amounts of oil were
discovered, a section of land was sold to the Simi Land
and Water Company, which included the present Simi Valley
and Moorpark areas.
Moorpark
gained prominence in 1904 when the Southern Pacific
Railroad received right of way to link Moorpark with
Santa Barbara on the west and with Los Angeles to the
east. Today, Moorpark is a growing and thriving community
consisting of 12.44 square miles and a population over
31,000 residents.

Nestled in a flourishing valley
located in Southeastern Ventura County, Moorpark is
one of Californias best-kept secrets. Boasting
spacious mountain views, a perpetual vacation climate
and an historical western charm, Moorpark is the perfect
blend of country and city living. Its within easy
commuting distance of Los Angeles to the south and Santa
Barbara to the north.
Moorpark
is a family-oriented community and ranks 7th safest
of 341 California cities with at least 10,000 residents.
Located on a Metrolink
line to Los Angeles and adjoining Simi
Valley, the safest large city in America, has grown
six-fold in two decades.
Recognized for decades as an agricultural
center, Moorpark is now becoming a center for environmentally
conscious industries and a home to an increasing number
of Fortune 500 companies. Providing a quality of life
conducive to employee stability and increased productivity,
Moorparks assets are perfectly suited for commercial
and industrial businesses.
