Transportation Applications
Passenger Cars & Light Trucks

Safety, comfort, emissions, fuel efficiency…all of these applications are addressed by Kavlico’s line of accurate, robust, and cost-effective sensor designs.

Safety

Recent NHTSA safety requirements regarding tire inflation levels have necessitated the continuous monitoring of tire pressure. This monitoring not only aids in safety, but also results in fuel efficiency gains.

Comfort & Fuel Efficiency

Making vehicles driver-friendly minimizes operator error and improves safety (via ABS and other systems), while also enhancing driver and passenger comfort. New automotive platforms rely on adaptive suspension systems to adjust the vehicle ride to coincide with road conditions and Kavlico pressure sensors assist with making the vehicle ride smoother and with increased stability. Add to that sensors to efficiently control and operate the vehicle’s temperature (HVAC) system to minimize the drain on the engine, and once again, passenger comfort is attained while increasing fuel economy and overall vehicle efficiency.

Kavlico pioneered the now industry-standard Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor that monitors intake pressure, controlling air and fuel rations for the most efficient and clean combustion process – improving fuel economy, reducing emissions, and helping create a pollution-free environment. Kavlico transmission sensors monitor and control shifting in automatic transmissions, assuring proper operation and smooth transition from gear to gear. Our engine oil pressure sensors support the internal lubrication system while Kavlico fuel pressure sensors permit adequate fuel supply to be allocated to the engine.

Emissions

And then there’s emissions. “Green” the new buzz word for a healthy environment. At Kavlico, we believe that a healthy environment is a daunting task… one we take very seriously. Working together with the auto industry, we will help reduce and manage emissions for future generations. Our line of emission sensors includes exhaust back pressure, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), diesel particulate filter (DPF) and urea (SCR) pressure sensors as well as a urea-dosing sensor.
